What to Expect....
When you visit The Refuge for the first time, it may or may not be what you expected. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. If you come early, you can get a cup of coffee downstairs at “Higher Grounds”.
Since we’re a full-gospel church, the music is lively and contemporary. When King David said “O my soul, bless God. From head to toe, I'll bless his holy name” (Psalm 103:1-The Message”) he meant it! So we encourage everyone to express their praise to a Magnificent God. You may see people lifting their hands, waving a banner or hear them using their voices in worship. This all comes from hearts that have experienced the incredible life-changing love of Jesus.
Knowing we live in a technological age, we try to use various mediums to help the message stick. Power point notes, video clips and dramatic skits are a few of the things we use to make the preaching come alive.
Mostly, what you should expect, and our prayer, is that you’ll hear from the Lord. It may not be in an audible voice, but the Bible says “Call to me and I will answer you. I'll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.” (Jeremiah 33:3- The Message) Whatever you’ll be coming in with (indecision, pain, loneliness) expect the Lord to speak just the right words to meet that need.
