“Humble”
God’s one and only goal for us…. Christ likeness! (1 Timothy 1:15)
Jesus came to save us… then transform us… but we can’t be transformed if w don’t have the capacity to see what needs to be transformed… thus the need for humility (Matthew 18:4)
Jesus- our great example (Philippians 2:8; Matthew 11:29)
The benefits of being humble-
Refuge (Zephaniah 3:12)
Lifted up (James 4:10)
Grace (James 4:6)
Humility is the magnet that attracts all of these! (Isaiah 57:15)
*Satan fears the truly humble, but dines on what we withhold from God, so first we must be “weakened”
“The Lord seeks those who know their flaws!” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29)
Doctrinal knowledge alone NEVER deals with matters of the heart, thus leaving us in unrighteousness
Our response- Psalm 51:16, 17
Conclusion- we have to be continually committed to the process of humility, never losing our “first love”
